The Blues organised the match for players not fit enough to feature in their 3-0 Premier League win against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Ben Chilwell, Emerson Palmieri, Ethan Ampadu, Ross Barkley, Kurt Zouma, Michy Batshuayi and Davide Zappacosta all played against Weymouth.
And it was a remarkable effort from James, who also played the final 23 minutes of Chelsea’s victory against Palace the day before.
New signing Romelu Lukaku was unable to make his second Chelsea debut as he’s still completing a stint in quarantine following his arrival in the UK.
And Tammy Abraham missed the friendly as he’s in the Italian capital ahead of his reported £34million move to Jose Mourinho’s Roma.
The Blues didn’t cover the game on their social media channels but have since revealed the goalscorers to the press.

Chelsea took the lead after just four minutes through Hudson-Odoi and were 8-0 up as the referee blew for half-time.
Thomas Tuchel’s side didn’t take their foot off the gas in the second half and romped to a sensational victory against a decent fifth-tier opposition.
Besiktas target Batshuayi scored FIVE for the Blues, with Barkley hitting a hat-trick and Hudson-Odoi scoring a brace.
Speaking to the Dorset Echo after the match, Weymouth manager Brian Stock admitted there was a ‘big gulf’ between the teams.
He said: “First and foremost, the whole experience has been brilliant and it’s something that I’m sure will live long in the memory of the players.
Tough end to pre-season.
Weymouth midfielder Ollie Harfield
“I did want to let them embrace the situation, however there was a focus on Boreham Wood in our first game of the season.
“We knew when we saw the starting line-up that there were going to be some internationals, but I didn’t know they were going to field a whole team of them!
“The fact that we’ve managed to give every single player that was fit some minutes on the pitch is pleasing.
“It’s important we don’t lose sight of next week. I’m pretty sure the majority of the players won’t play a team like that ever again in their lives.
“If they do, they’d have gone on to have a very good career.”
